    Did you know that June is “Men’s Health Month?”  I had no clue and what is funny is that my husband just started working out and trying to eat better.  I just bought him some new exercise bands and put a fan in the basement for him, now he is thinking about vitamins and what else he can do to help him get and stay in shape.

    Here are some tips from GNC on Exercising and Sports Performance:

    • Eat more carbs to supply your body with efficient energy fuel.  Good carbs are found in grains, starchy vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy products, and carbohydrate-replacement drinks.
    • Obey your thirst by drinking fluids before, during and after exercise to prevent dehydration, but before not to overdrink either.
    • Take a multivitamin.  When your diet isn’t enough, extra vitamins and minerals will help your body get the nutrition it needs for exercise.
    • Check out creatine monohydrate.  Take 15 to 20 grams a day of this supplement for five or six days to improve performance of high-intensity, short duration exercise or sports with alternating low and high intensity efforts.
    • Try vitamin C.  Take 400 mg a day for several days before and after intense exercise to reduce pain and speed muscle strength recovery.

    Now I know most of my readers are women, but maybe you could forward this on to your husband/boyfriend or print it out for him.  For me, I am trying to be supportive of my husband and buy healthy foods and cook better so this helped me.  I also think a multivitamin might be good for him and was happy to find that GNC had a good selection to pick from.

    I found a multivitamin perfect of men to take that helps men who achieve optimal health and athletic performance.  For $32 it comes out to be a 3 month supply which is not a bad price at all!  I am thinking this would be a perfect Father’s Day gift for my husband!
