So here again I find myself awake, typing away on my keyboard, enjoying the peace. You see my husband always nags me that I stay up too late and I am not doing anything important anyways. First of all, he has no idea what I am doing on the computer, I mean midnight is the best time to pay bills online and email back friends and family. He just doesn’t get it that this is “my time.” This is the only time I get to myself where I am not washing dinner, cooking, cleaning, feeding the kids, or listening to that wonderful word, “Mom.”
I remember how excited I was when he first said “mom,” but now that is all he says. Nothing else, so all day I hear “Mom,” “Mom,” “Mom,” ……it does vary in tones, but you get the point. So anyways, I fight back my tiredness and my desire to get some long awaited sleep to blog and search and click. I am actually at the point too where my body will not let me go to sleep before 1 am. I have tried a few times to shut down the computer and curl up under the covers, but then I always regret laying down and end up playing around on my iPod Touch.
It just amazes what my life would be without all this technology. I mean what did people do before? How did they live? My mom jokes that some day my kids will laugh at the technology we have now because theirs will be so much more advanced. I am happy though and I know I am extremely lucky to have everything I do.
There are days when I try to see how long I can go without technology and it is impossible. I mean I wake up and immediately check my email on my iPod Touch since it pulls it faster than I can boot up my computer, then I heat up some breakfast in the microwave or toaster oven, watch some HD TV or something off my DVR, boot up my laptop (although I think it only has a few days of survival left), talk on my voice-over-IP phone, send out some text messages….and so forth. I wake up with technology and I go to sleep with it.
I do find though that I am the most clear headed and organized at this time. I also am more motivated to see how much I can get down before I crash. I often wonder what my friends and family or companies I contact think when they see the timestamps of emails sent from me. Oh well, I do what I have to do and this is when I can do it. I am not ready to give up this “me time.”
Hopefully, I am not alone out there!

Oh that is so true. I cannot get over how different life is now than it was when I was little. I laugh all the time when Big Brother comes up and asks me about my blog. Just hearing him say that word makes me laugh. 🙂

I do some of my best work late at night, too! You kind of have to…when you have young kids.
