When I think of chili, pepperoni, party trays, and microwaveable complete meals (yummy beef roast), I think of Hormel. I remember my mom serving the Hormel chili on nachos and now I serve it to my kids along with the rest of their great products! I was a picky eater and I think my mom figured the only way I would eat chili is on nachos, and she was right as always. Even today it is a comfort food for me! Another brand that I am fond of is Dinty Moore, which is more canned soups and microwave-ready products. I have always love the Dinty Moore Beef Stew!
Hormel chili and Dinty Moore products have also evolved their product ads and labels throughout the years, but luckily the food is still high quality. I honestly don’t pay much attention to labels or ads, because as long as I like the product I don’t care what the packaging looks like. It is funny though as Dinty Moore used characters Jiggs and Maggie form “Bringing Up Father” in the 1930s then a lumber jack named “First name’s Dinty, last name’s Moore” who placed his signature thumbprint on every can. Celebrities have also been popular in promoting hormel chili ads, including Ray Milland, star of “Copper Canyon”, then an 80s football player Fran Tarkenton. In the end though, both brands have been and always will be a part of my family meals!

I sent hubby to work today with a can of Hormel Chili. I did go ahead and put it into a microwave safe dish though. I wanted him to have something nicer than just a sandwich since he’s working mandatory overtime today, so his shift is going to be a real long one. I gave him the one without beans though, so his co-workers wouldn’t have to suffer. LOL.
