So exterior doors have always been a fascination of mine, probably because I never had a nice one. I was always jealous of the houses will beautiful wood front doors with glass and ornate designs, and now I have one. Ours luckily came with the house, but it really does suit our house quite well. Although we noticed that it is splitting a little bit, as in we can see light coming through a crack in the wood under the oval glass section. So we put up a screen door so the front door doesn’t get exposed to too much weather and doesn’t get worse. We do now though have to caulk or whatever it is called the crack. At least it is not too noticeable.
Then for whatever reason, all of our interior doors started shifting, probably due to the weather changes of humidity inside. So my husband had to play around and put shims in three doors inside so far so they would close probably. It is the strangest thing! Again though we are lucky as we have all solid wood doors inside, instead of the hollow plastic-like doors we had in our old house.
So to help with weather inside (and prevent some outside weather) we have purchased a whole-house humidifier. We have nice windows right now which help, but at some point I know we will need replacement windows. If it is not one thing, it is another! Our windows are pretty good at keeping the house a good temperature, which is nice because we have a lot of windows in this house that I couldn’t imagine having to replace all of them! Maybe we will gradually start replacing windows and and add some fans to help circulate the air inside better and keep some of the yucky weather out! I figure our front door and interior doors will last longer that way!

We have an older house with older windows, so I’m sure we’re wasting electricity! For our front door, it was very dated but we simply primed & painted it, and added new hardware to give it a fresh look.
