    Covermate Stretch-to-Fit Food Covers Review & Giveaway (Ends 5/21)

    I remember years ago there was this product that was basically cling wrap with elastic.  So no more searching for lids or struggling with cling wrap, I just stretched this cover on and voil-ah!  Then when I went to get a new package, I couldn’t find them.  Fast forward to present and now there is a company called Covermate that is my new best friend.

    Covermate is a cover that has a Built-In FlexBand so its elastic will stretch to fit whatever you need over and over again.  Now I will mention there are different size covers so they are not one size fits all, this way you get a perfect seal to keep your food fresh and covered.  Since the cover is clear, it makes it super easy to glance in and see what is inside.  There is even a Corner Vent so if you microwave something steam can escape instead of build up.

    MY THOUGHTS:

    Like I mentioned earlier, Covermate is my new best friend.  I love them for leftovers and reheating foods quickly and mess-free.  I have used a Covermate on bowls, cans of vegetables, casserole dishes, and plates.  They are so easy to use and I love that I don’t have to struggle with cling wrap and hoping it stays on.  Covermate will be especially nice when I have to bring a dish to someone’s house since it will stay on tight and can be microwaved (I just have to make sure I take it back!)

    I got the chance to review the Variety Pack which comes with 10 covers all in the sizes I need and use everyday.  There are 4 Medium (Fits 4” to 9”), 4 Large (Fits 9” to 14”) and 2 Extra Large (Fits 14” to 19”).  A small can cover is also included as a bonus and honestly I use it all the time for when I only want to use half a can of vegetables or soup.

    I have not had any problems with Covermate so far and I don’t think I will have any.  It is also super easy to wash them in the dishwasher if you prefer.  (Although I hand wash them usually I have tested out the dishwasher tip and it works fine.)  The covers are also BPA and PVC free.

    Dishwashing your CoverMate Tip:

    1.            Turn your CoverMate Food Cover inside out

    2.            Put on the back of a clean plate

    3.            Place in dishwasher to clean and dry!

      DO NOT BUY COVERMATE COVERS FROM THEIR WEBSITE!!!! I placed an online order & I was to only be charged $3.99 for shipping. Well…..I was charged $41.67 & when I called the company to cancel my order I was told that I would have to wait 24-48 hours & call back, because the order had not even uploaded to the system yet. I called back the following day (less than 24 hours after the order was placed) & the order had already shipped!!!! They would not work with me at all. They told me that I would have to wait until I received the product and then return the item to them for a full refund. The lady I spoke with on the phone actually HUNG UP ON ME!!!

      Rub your hand with a cut lemon after you handle onions or fish. The smell goes away quickly. Thanks for the contest.

      Keep your freezer full so it won’t have to work so hard to stay cold. Freeze containers of ice to take up the space.

      My tip is: When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a little of the dry cake mix instead-no white mess on the outside of the cake.

      Put your kitchen sponge through the dishwasher periodically to prevent odors and bacteria growth (the microwave will work, too).

      My Kitchen tip is to multi-task by cleaning while your cooking, so that when your done eating your meal there is not as big of mess to clean up. Sound simples I know. I’m great at this, but my husband is terrible at this.

      I take a day a month and prepare weekly meals and I freeze them.So when we want bake Ziti all i have to do is pop it in the oven, I make a salad and garlic bread and dinner is done!

      My kitchen tip is to always use a Sharpie to mark freezer bags with what is in the bag & date of when it went into the freezer!

      Rub your hands on your stainless steel sink or faucet after handling onions (I do mine while I am washing my hands). It will take the onion smell away just like that!

      To test freshness of eggs…place in a tub of water…if they sink they are fresh, if they float, they are not and have heard to discard them. We eat em up fast, so they dont ever get to this point!

      If you get an odor “stuck” in a container you can try washing it with a vinegar solution or sealing some raw cabbage in it.

      To clean the inside of the microwave, heat a small bowl of water with sliced lemons to boiling. Let set in microwave for 15 minutes. It will make the microwave smell great and everything should wipe clean very easily.

      Use applesauce instead of oil in recipes (cakes, cookies, etc) to keep fat content lower.
