    Help End Childhood Hunger with a Bake Sale (& $20 Visa Gift Card Giveaway Ends 6/3)

    In an effort to help the more than 17 million hungry kids in America, Domino Sugar and C&H Sugar have partnered with Share Our Strength Great American Bake Sale.  They are encouraging thousands of bake sale registrations, providing delicious recipes and donating valuable funds for this important cause.  In 2009 there was 7.600 bale sale registrations and they raised over $1.3 million, and this year the goal is to have 9,000 bake sales and raise $1.8 million.  The ultimate goal is to end the problem of childhood hunger in our country by the year 2015.

    MY THOUGHTS:

    I applaud Domino Sugar and C& H Sugar for stepping in and what a great idea!  I mean who doesn’t love a bake sale, especially when the money is going to a worthy cause!  If you are clueless as me or just want inspiration, you can even find all sorts of Tips & Tools on the Domino Sugar website including, Location Ideas, How to Promote, Printable Signs & Tags, Fun Ideas, Pricing Suggestions, and Presentation ideas.

    Now I would love to have a bake sale and help the cause, but with two little ones, they would eat all my potential profits!  So since I am not able to host my own bake sale I have decided to pass on a $20 Visa Gift Card to one lucky winner whom I hope will have their own bake sale and donate their bake sale funds.   The $20 gift card is perfect for you to get started on your bake sale supplies!

      I would “make” (no baking required) 1-2-3’s
      (1 bag of butterscotch chips, 2 Tbl. Peanut butter, 3 c. Corn Flakes
      Melt 1 & 2 then mix in the corn flakes! Let set in muffin papers and ENJOY!!

      I’ve put together some fabulous bake sales for the local chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., that I founded. The key is to make the booth as festive as possible, engage those walking by in conversation, and to be sure to individually thank (with cards) those who helped or donated baked goods. I am most famous of giant cookies, creme de menthe brownies, and lemon glazed bread. Would love to win the Visa card. I could put it to very good use!

      I always have to make something simple that doesn’t require decoration since I have no decorating talent…I ususally make something like small pound cakes and then wrap them as pretty as I can.

      What a great reason for a giveaway!!!

      If I were to host a bake sale, I would bake snickerdoodles, brown-eyed susans, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and iced sugar cookies.

      I know exactly what I am going to bake and sell this year. My mothers treasured ITALIAN PIZZELLES. There are many recipes for this yummy Italian treat, but my mom has the real recipe streight from Italy!
      Pizzelles can be made into many yummy treats such as ice cream cones, ice cream sandwitches or eaten by themselves. I have enjoyed them since as far back as I can remember. I recall my grandmother in the kitchen with the Pizzelle Iorn!
      I will be useing the same Iorn to make the ones for the sale and she would be proud to know we were doing this for such a great cause:)
