Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association (MHAIA) has created The Big Hit contest and website where consumers can post and check out yummy avocado recipes. On September 1st Avocado League participants will be announce and public voting for their recipes will begin in late September.
Now I am not creative when it comes to cooking, I am getting there but whenever avocados are in season we always have them around. Now many people think that avocados are just for guacamole, which is what I mainly use them for, but they are also good on sandwiches, wraps, salads, and so much more! I was actually amazed at some of the recipes posted on The Big Hit as one lady from Chicago posted a recipe for Chicago Style Avocado Chicken Pizza, which sounds awesome!
I also want to add that Avocados have some great health benefits:
– 50 calories per ounce (around 3 slices)
– Sodium and cholesterol free
– Includes nearly 20 different types of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients in one serving
My Recipe for Mango Salsa
– Avocados
– Diced Fresh Mango
– Tomatoes (optional)
– Lime Juice
– Salt
– Cilantro
– Jalepeno peppers (optional)
– Onions
Now I didn’t include measurements because it depends on what I have and how I want it to taste, sometimes I like more avocados, other times I would rather taste the mango. I start with a little of each and work my way up until it tastes how I want it to!
Mama’s Money Savers Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
