As a child I loved Disney Princesses, my favorite being Snow White. Now that I have two boys, it doesn’t mean I don’t still love my princesses but it just means I have to do it in secret! Well thanks to Feld Entertainment I got the chance to go to Disney on Ice: Princess Classics. Since my husband didn’t really have any interest, I left him home with my youngest and took my 3-year old son and my neighbor and her 3-year old daughter, Reagan. Even though it was a Disney Princess theme and Reagan loves Ariel, she chose to dress up like Minnie Mouse which was too cute!
Since this was the first Feld Entertainment show for the season around here, we got treated to a nice buffet and character meet and greet beforehand. Aidan was a little scared of Cinderella but I was giddy inside! After dinner, pictures, and meeting some other Chicagoland bloggers, we went off to our seats.
First off if you have never been to an ice show before, I highly recommend it as it is more amazing than I can describe. The characters outfits, props, movements, songs, and ice skating is really amazing.
The show started off with Mickey and Minnie and then each scene in Act 1 featured a Disney Princess. First was Aladdin and his princess Jasmine, then Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and the finale. I cannot believe how they covered each princess and each featured a popular song from the movies. Snow White had “Whistle While You Work,” “Heigh Ho” just to name a few. The scenes were quick but each covered the main plot of the movie and then in the finale each princess story was shown a happy ending. The props though were awesome like the flying magic carpet ride and the genie for Aladin, the spindle and her fairy godmothers for Sleeping Beauty, the crab and Ursula for Ariel, the dragon and training for Mulan, the dwarfs for Snow White, and the Beast for Belle.
After a short intermission, Act 2 began which was focused solely on Cinderella. It had the mice making her dress, evil stepsisters and stepmother, her carriage ride and dance, then the prince having her try on her missing glass slipper. The show ended with all the princesses dancing with their princes. It was a beautiful finale with so many characters on the ice it was hard to watch all of them!
Overall, the show was definitely a must for any princess fan, and honestly my 3-year old enjoyed it to. There was so much going on, singing and dancing that he didn’t necessarily focus on the princesses but all her friends and props! Aidan did much better than I would have thought and even though it was a princess show, It was beautiful and amazing.
