A few weeks ago I had the chance to attend a Yo Gabba Gabba performance here in Chicago and it was definitely a party! It was an hour and a half full of Yo Gabba Gabba music and dancing and yes it was the original DJ Lance Rock! The show was non-stop music (except a 15 minute intermission) where they had us on our feet dancing, balloons falling from the ceiling, bubbles blowing, and even one of the characters flying! Oh and even Biz Markie was there beat boxing!
Now we don’t watch Yo Gabba Gabba as much as other shows, but I do like the music because it has good lessons and themes. Some of the songs are about eating healthy, no biting, and not to be afraid. They are all unique characters but are friends which is a lesson in themselves. All the characters are bright, big and fun! I highly recommend checking out Yo Gabba Gabba if they are on their way to your town still since their tour doesn’t end until December 12. You should try to get seats as close to the stage as you can afford because we were stuck in the way up balcony at the Chicago Theatre so the balloons and bubbles were out of our reach. (Although my husband was able to walk down and grab a balloon!)
Tickets are currently on sale and range in price from $22 – $55 and are available at The Chicago Theatre Box Office, on-line at thechicagotheatre.com and ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. VIP packages with premium tickets and meet and greets are also be available. For complete tour, ticket information and VIP packages, visit www.yogabbagabbalive.com. Children under one year of age will be admitted free to sit on a parent’s lap.
The state-of-the-art production features music, singing, dancing and animation. The show is an interactive experience that offers audience members of all ages the opportunity to witness their favorite characters come to life. Joining the characters on stage will be hip-hop legend Biz Markie to teach kids how to beat box with “Biz’s Beat of the Day”. Special guests will join the party on stage for the Super Music Friends Show and Dancey Dance segments.
