ABOUT:
Pitstop underarm stain remover is the first ever stain remover to effectively eliminate underarm stains as well as ring around the collar. This product is best used by pre-treating the entire stain, rubbing together (or using a small brush) and letting it sit for 15-20 minutes before laundering.
If you have treated your armpit stains with bleach the stain is permanent and unsalvageable. Throw out the garment and test PITSTOP on stains that have not been treated with bleach.
MY THOUGHTS:
My husband sweats and every now and then it goes through his undershirt and onto his work dress shirt. I usually don’t mind if he stains his undershirt but once its on his dress shirts, the stains pretty much are permanent. I cannot even tell you how many shirts (some only worn once) I have thrown away because of armpit stains. I figured trying PITSTOP couldn’t hurt so I gave it a shot.
First off I will say PITSTOP smells terrible (think skunk) but it is not meant to be a fabric refresher but rather a stain remover. So I went ahead and sprayed PITSTOP as a pre-treatment on his armpit stained dress shirts and it definitely helped. It didn’t totally remove them but I will say these are not very fresh stains. I didn’t have a recent stained shirt to try it on to test if a fresh stain would make a difference. I was happy though that after spraying PITSTOP and washing a shirt twice, the armpit stain is almost gone. Also, the terrible smell from the spray was gone,
PITSTOP also works to remove ring around the collar, but I haven’t tested that out yet. It works by getting to the source of the stain causing a reaction that releases it from the clothing. I also read that remedies such as vinegar, bleach, and hydrogen peroxide can actually permanently set in sweat stains which I had no clue about. PITSTOP does offer a satisfaction guarantee for your purchase price if you are not satisfied, so it is worth a shot trying!

Now I use a spray stain remover and am trying Purex with Zout. If this really works then it’s a miracle. Lol. I didn’t think it was possible to get rid of the dreaded pit stains.

The short answer is – give up and dispose of the stained garment. I suspect that stains that make it thru the dryer are set by the detergents used and dryer heat makes it permanent. Repeated washing and stain pretreatments do not seem to work.
