    Western Union has a new campaign going on called the “Love in Any Language”  It is designed to honor mothers, family, friends and loved ones, who have all provided so much throughout the years. The campaign takes the approach of using music, which is universally used to express love towards others in any language, as a way to empower consumers during the Mother’s Day season.  The cards being utilized for the giveaway are available online (www.westernunion.com) in amounts up to $100 and include a customizable printed greeting card and a personalized voice message.

    Here are some survey stats (the survey was conducted by Western Union with Wakefield Research):

    • It’s not so easy to find mom that perfect Mother’s Day gift.  52% of Americans report their top gripe for gifting to mom is they don’t know what she wants, and 43% say they can’t afford what they really want to purchase. This May, give a gift mom wants and stay within your budget by giving cash.
    • Sometimes the most traditional Mother’s day gift can fall short. A recent survey by Western Union found that 74% of adults admit their mother would rather receive $50 cash than a $50 bouquet of flowers.

      I love giving my Mom pictures of the Grandkids for Mother’s Day, I also did pottery of a spoon rest with my child’s hand on it in a bouquet it was really fun and cute and she still uses it everyday! : )

      I created a photo book for my mom that celebrated her and her importance in the family. She really, really loved it. I think that’s a great ideas for a Mother’s Day gift. It’s too late now, though, I think to have one made, so another gift is brunch at a restaurant that caters to the holiday. They’re sure to make it special, you get to spend time with mom, and mom doesn’t have to cook.

      Arrange for all the kids to attend a Surprise Mother’s Day Party (even if you have to fly them in). Celebrate just like you would a Birthday Party with decorations and a cake and gifts. She will never forget it.

      I think a great gift for Mother’s Day is to buy several bedding plants for your Mother, then plant them in her garden. It’s a gift that she will be able to enjoy for months and even years, if you plant perennials.

      Make your own gift basket for mom with things she enjoys ~~ a mug filled with her favorite chocolates/candies, items involving her hobbies, her favorite coffees/teas, some things she can spoil herself with, like bath salts or body lotion, add some pretty fabric flowers, and wrap the whole basket in plastic wrap and tie it up with a big pretty bow! 😉

      My Mom was always so hard to buy for, if asked she would say she didn’t need anything, she was petite, so clothes were always hard to buy for her, she was highly allergic to flowers and she was never into jewelry, so it was usually a lunch out and slippers and a bathrobe (she really loved both,had a thing for bathrobes in particular, but I was so bored giving her the same thing every year) I would give anything to have her back and give her a boring old bathrobe and a pair of slippers. So my suggestion is spend time with Mom, it’s the best gift you can give each other.

      I think letting your creative juices flow like making a basket with all your moms favorite goodies. For example, this year one of my mother’s day gifts to my mom is a basket filled with all her favorite popcorn. My mom is a popcorn fanatic so she will really appreciate this.

      Our favorite gifts for Mamas (and Grandmamas) on Mother’s day involve crafts made by the kiddos that incorporate current pics of them. Even something as simple as an accordian book with pics and little extras will make Grandma smile.

      Nothing means more than a handmade gift. Dads get your little ones together and paint their palms. Leave the painted imprints on paper to dry, frame the page and give it to Mom.
