With my first son I was completely clueless as far as brands of baby products go. I didn’t know anyone that had kids so I just winged it and bought brands that I read or saw advertised. I used Avent bottles and pacifiers with my first two kids but recently I heard about the Playtex Drop Ins. My neighbor swears by them and used them with her two girls exclusively.
So I headed over to my local Toys R Us, which is also a Babies R Us, and looked for the baby products aisles. Since my store is being combined to the two stores, it was under construction and pretty messy, I was able to easily shop there. The baby aisles were pretty organized and together, but it did seem like the product selection was not the greatest. I found one employee on the store floor to help but he was constantly being called by other customers for help so I searched the aisles on my own.
The baby feeding aisle had infant items on one side and toddler feeding on the other side. The baby side had the bottles and pacifiers hanging on the top and bottles and breastfeeding products on the bottom underneath each corresponding brand. Each brand also had a plaque on the top that displayed the brand name so it was easy to find the Playtex section. Playtex had two types of bottles: Drop Ins and Vent Air along with corresponding nipple. I was disappointed to see that there was no pacifiers from Playtex but then I found one package laying on the shelf but it was ages 6 months and up and in boy colors.
I ended up purchasing the Playtex pacifiers as extra ones to put away and a Playtex Drop Ins bottle with nipples to try out with baby Olivia. I am not a big fan on having to buy the liners but I do like that the baby will get less air and there really isn’t anything to clean – perfect for on the go!
While I was at Toys R Us, I did check out the Baby Registry and since my store was somewhat under construction and didn’t really have employees to help, I just looked at it myself. I used the Babies R Us baby registry with my first son four years ago and I really liked it. It was easy to add items and no one had any problems buying items for me off of it. They also had an easy return policy and helpful registry associates. I would recommend the registry for any parent even if it is just to add a few things. There is a scanner parents use to scan the items in the store and then you can check the registry computer in the store or at home.
