ABOUT:
This summer Bagel Bites is encouraging families to pledge to “Snack Simply” and help others do the same! For every pledge taken at www.snacksimplypledge.com , Bagel Bites will donate $1 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and send you a $1 off coupon towards a Bagel Bites Snack, transforming snack-time into a great way to help kids in need. The goal is 50,000 pledges, which means Bagel Bites could donate up to $50,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America!
The Bagel Bites Snack Simply Pledge asks parents to adhere to three guiding principles for snacking this summer, which include:
- Keep it Simple– Choose simple, easy-to-prepare snacks with wholesome ingredients.
- Keep it Tasty – Serve snacks kids will love to encourage lots of smiles around the table.
- Keep it Fun – Take the time to connect with your child and incorporate some simple, family-friendly activities during the daily snack-time routine.
MY THOUGHTS:
Even though my boys are only 3 and 4, I am already realizing how touch summer vacation is. My 4 year old who is normally in school from 9-12 PM is now home all day, along with my 3 year old – both active and growing boys! Schedules go out the window for us and we basically “wing it” everyday.
Snacktime is something that I constantly struggle with since one of my sons is very picky and the other just wants to snack all day long. My challenge is always to find snacks they both like that I can quickly prepare for them, especially before the whinning of “I’m hungry starts.”
While you may not think about Bagel Bites as being a wholesome snack choice, they are actually made with real ingrediatns like whole grain bagels, tomato sauce and real mozzarella cheese. They even offer eight grams of whole grain per serving.
My boys absolutely love Bagel Bites, I mean who doesn’t love mini-pizzas! Its great too because it is a snack I can eat with them and not feel guilty about. It is also a snack I can simply prepare in a matter of minutes. I also love the convenience of them as they are ready to be heated, as I am by no means creative in the kitchen nor do I have time to think about snacktime. I always have a box at hand too for unexpected guests (or playdates) that we have. The “Snack Simply” Pledge is a great way too to not only think about wholesome goodness at snacktime but also raise some money for charity (not to mention to save a $1 yourself!)

Well I have a gaggle of kids so I try to keep a variety of snacks on hand. Just simple stuff that they can grab and go or I will cut up a bunch of fruit and make sure its right at the front of the fridge so they see it right when they open the fridge and it usually works because all day long I will hear “mom can I have some of this?”

My fridge has a drawer that is designated as the snack drawer, and contains yogurt, jello, fruit cups and fresh veggies. When the kids want a snack they know to go there for one.

keeping it simple, by keeping carrots, celery and apple slices available. for a quick treat, we blend vanilla yogurt with sliced berries and ice for a quick smoothie. our favorite if vanilla yogurt in with fruit blended and frozen in small dixie cups with a Popsicle stick for a quick snack.
