So right now we are getting ready for re-enrollment in my husband’s healthcare plan. Every November we have to re-evaluate his benefits and decide what we are going to do. We have been fortunate that it is pretty easy and reasonably priced but it makes me wonder what we would do without it. My 4 year old had open-heart surgery as a baby and will require another one as a teen, my 3 year old has breathing problems, and we just had another baby whom I had weekly visits when I was pregnant. So basically we need good insurance.
It makes me wonder how those who are unemployed, seniors, or just can’t afford health care do. Before I had kids I did have insurance but only because my job offered it and it wasn’t even really worth it. Then I have a feeling that as I get older our insurance needs will obviously change since we won’t have kids to insure or babies to be had! As a senior citizen, there is Medicare Supplemental Insurance but even then some have additional insurance to cover costs. Like I know my grandma has two insurances to cover her expenses. Then I even heard different states have different laws with insurance so if we were to ever move we would have to think about that too. Luckily we live in a big city now so I don’t think the changes would be too drastic elsewhere except in maybe California or New York which has interesting laws! Not that I need to think about any of that now!
