MY THOUGHTS:
Sentence Buildings is a great set for kids learning their words and how to piece their sentences together.
Create sentence cities with 9 durable parts-of-speech buildings and over 300 double-sided cards!
- Parts of speech include: noun, verb, adjective, pronoun, conjunction, article, preposition, adverb, and punctuation
- Use many or just a few buildings to differentiate instruction
- Buildings range in size from 2.5″L x 3″H to 2.5″L x 5.75″H
- Grades 1+
The set includes nine buildings featuring different parts of speech and then 300 Double sided-words cards. The different word cards then correspond with the different buildings. For example, there are the words “Money” “You” “The” and so forth and you have to put them in the right plastic building!
This set really has so many possibilities for use. There are five Suggested Activities included which are perfect to get going with your kids!
- Simple Sentences (use a pronoun, verb, noun and punctuation)
- Exciting Sentences (create a Simple Sentence but add an adjective to see how it changes.)
- Follow the Recipe (work with a small group to make a sentence together)
- Parts of Speech Match (put all the cards in the pile and match parts of speech.)
- Main Street Mix-Up (Pick a card from each building and make a sentence.)
Since Aidan is just 5 years old, we are working on what the words are and how they match together with the buildings. I am also working on sentences with him as he is a lazy speaker and drops pronouns and prepositions. For example, he says things like “Me go” or “I want trucks.” I think this set will be perfect for growing with him and I hope to get him in line or past his peers. I remember struggling with different words and where they belonged and Sentence Buildings makes it fun! The plastic buildings have lids and the corresponding words fit inside them for easy clean-up and storage. There really is nothing I would change.
BUY IT: Sentence Buildings retails for $29.99 and is available at www.LearningResources.com, other online retailers and specialty stores.
WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive Sentence Buildings
