So this past week I was cleaning our house like crazy preparing for my husband’s graduate school graduation party. It was a long 4.5 years and I wanted to celebrate so we had a pig roast (with a 210 pound pig!) Our family friends helped out and the party was a blast – just over 60 people here. Then as we were cleaning up this morning the sky got black out of nowhere and the wind picked up. We rushed to take down our 10×20 feet canopy which was literally pulling us off the ground. The winds were said to be 90mph and I would believe that. Our backyard looks like a jungle as branches fell from this undeveloped land behind us into our yard. I will post pictures as soon as I have power and can upload them off my camera. On a side now please cross your fingers for me that our desktop computer still works as the power blew when the computer was on.
We luckily got a generator from my husband’s uncle and have minimal power right now. I luckily have my Droid Xyboard charged and ready to go which I am using it as a hotspot.
The hotspot is something that I never thought of using before but it is freakin’ awesome! All I do is turn on the hotspot tethering on my Droid Xyboard which has 4G service already and its like my own personal modem and router in one. Now I could just use my Xyboard with its 4G service but I am more comfortable blogging from my laptop. Right now my Xyboard is up on my tv stand and I am lounging on my basement couch connected to the Internet using my hotspot I created. I think the hotspot will come in handy too when we are on vacation (since my husband and log into my hot spot with his laptop and tablet), BlogHer (maybe I will make some new friends by sharing my hotspot) and basically anytime I don’t have WiFi but want to use another device other than (or in addition to) my Droid Xyboard.
So thank you Droid Xyboard for saving my sanity while we deal with no power and three kids!

The wind came through here both Friday and Sunday, knocking out power both times. Absolutely crazy! Now we’re dealing with outages that are “heat related” because everyone is using a/c’s on full blast as well as fans, TV’s, and whatever else while inside

Oh yuck! I know after our power came back on 4 days later, it went out briefly for a few hours and freaked me out!

Glad you are safe and hope you get your power back soon (if its not already). We lost power for 2.5 days last week from TS Debby and I was stuck alone with the kids and pets lol. We were flooded in so I couldn’t go anywhere for the first day and a half, hubby was working the first day and with the flooding he couldn’t get home either. It was miserable lol. I so needed something like this to help pass the time. We ended up losing a lot of food too and I couldn’t get out to bring it to my moms, or even get down the road to get ice. I let the kids have ice cream for breakfast the first morning haha.. they loved it, but gave me a look like they thought I’d lost my mind LOL.

Where are you located? I am in southwest Virginia and we had the same crazy winds! I am one of the view who never lost power and there are so many still that have no power. I hope you get your power back soon!
