INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Package Thick-Cut Bacon – Cut each piece into thirds
- 1 Package Large Dates
- Toothpicks
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Cover pan with aluminum foil.
Wrap a piece of bacon around a date. Press firmly on the bacon wrapped date – I also stick a tooth pick in them to keep them secure together.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until crisp. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
This recipe is one of my favorites! I get requests to make these all the time and they get gobbled up in no time. I will admit the first time my husband tried to get me to eat one I had no clue what a date was! Ever since I got the recipe from our friend, I have been in love! The chewiness of the date mixed with the crispness of the bacon is the perfect combination. In case you are clueless like me, a date is like a giant raisin usually by the dried fruit or raisins in the grocery store, in dry good not refridgerated. These are so simple to make and I usually have the two ingredients on hand!

I would have never thought of wrapping the dates in bacon, but this sounds really appealing. I am trying it over the weekend.

it doesn’t look like a whole strip of bacon on each date, how big a piece of bacon do you cut?

I use the thick cut bacon (or center-cut) cut into thirds! You get more dates for your bacon that way 🙂
Just updated the recipe – thanks!

I make a version of this using dry figs, stuff with goat cheese and wrap in procuitto or pancetta and bake. SOoooooo good!!
