A few weeks ago I posted about the Sargento Ultimate Cheeseburger contest and my hometowns own recipe, the Drill Sargento Burger. The Drill Sargento Burger was created by Chicago’s own The Butcher and the Burger, located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, is not your typical burger restaurant.
Their patty’s alone make the restaurant stand out with choices like:
- Natural & Local House Blend Beef
- La Pryor Farm Port
- Lentil Brown Rice Burger (Vegan)
- Elk
- Grass-Fed Beef
- Naturally Raised Turkey
- Sustainably farmed Salmon
- Grass Fed Bison
Then there are tons of Spices to choose from, different Buns, and of course a huge variety of Toppings. I honestly wouldn’t even know where to start with my burger! I don’t even know the difference between the different Beefs (Natural & Local House Blend vs. Grass-Fed.) My husband jokes that I wouldn’t know a good burger if it hit me in the face! I am hoping we can make it down there in the next few weeks for dinner as my mouth was watering just reading the menu and for my husband the menu is right up his alley (with a glass of beer of course.) In addition to their famous burgers, The Butcher and the Burger also offers cooking and butcher classes.
Here again is a quick picture of their Drill Sargento Burger and Check out the Drill Sargento Recipe here:
While my husband is no chef, he definitely likes to be creative in the kitchen especially when it comes to meat. So when I asked him to come up with something special for our hamburgers the other night, he was all over that! I should add that normally we would have made the burgers from scratch with ground beef and seasonings but it just wasn’t happening for us.
His burger:
Sargento Swiss, Homemade BBQ Sauce, Onions, Lettuce, and Tomato
Mine:
I’m boring, mine had Lettuce, Sargento Swiss, and ketchup (yes I’m from Chicago and like ketchup):
I will say that normally I buy whatever sliced cheese is on sale, usually the store brand ones, and tasting our burgers with Sargento cheese was eye opening. The cheese definitely added flavor to them. I now know that “Cheese is not all created equal.” Sargento is a new staple in our house 🙂

Oh my gosh, that picture makes me so hungry. BBQ is the best part of summer! If you’re grilling any time soon you have to try a grilled chocolate sandwich for dessert! Oh how I love summer food.
