Our first two houses we rehabbed and when I say we rehabbed I mean we got lots and lots of help from others. My husband is not a handyman, but fortunately can be somewhat handy when needed. Our current house we bought because it didn’t need work, other than special touches we wanted to make. So we painted, changed out a bathroom cabinet and mirror and decorated. We didn’t knock down any walls or do anything major!
Next up is something that isn’t too major but I feel is our next priority. Our basement has a kitchen area and the laminate tile there is so yucky. I have scrubbed and scrubbed at that tile but it still is dingy. In our second house we bought this peel-and-stick type wood stuff. It was relatively easy to install and not too expensive but still it’d be about $200 for our project. I think with a new floor in there and the relatively new cabinets it will look like a whole new kitchen down there. The floor down there has a drain in the middle so we don’t have too many nice choices, but I am sure we could find what I am looking for.
Floor and Decor is a new store that popped up nearby us and is known for their low price flooring and Best selection in tiles. I never would have thought of a store just for flooring but they seem to have everything – including Porcelain, ceramic, stone, tile, wood and laminate. I actually drive past the store a lot now and one of these days I am going to have time to pop in there! Their website features some great prices and the pictures just make me want to do our project like now! So hopefully in the next few months I’ll have a new floor to show off!

Great article, and I just want to say that when it comes to flooring, everyone wants to spend as little money as possible while still getting a good deal on flooring for their house. But with all of the experience that I’ve had in the past, the odds of that happening are very slim. Because what I’ve learned and always gone with is to always pay a little more to get better flooring that can end up lasting longer.
