We love LeapFrog products and honestly we have the Leapster Explorer, LeapPad1 Explorer and a LeapPad Explorer2. My boys (4 and 5) take them to bed with them, in the car and even the bathroom. What I love first off about the way LeapFrog is making their game cartridges is that they are universal for both the LeapPad1 Explorer tablet and the newest one, LeapPad2. I hate when we have to buy new cartridges for each system and this way my kids can share the cartridges. Since my boys are in pre-school and Kindergarten, I was super excited for them to try the new Ultra eBook Learn to Read Collection titles because it is a fun way for them to practice learning, without them realizing they are learning! If I ask my 5 year old to come sit and practice reading with me, he complains and whines, but if I say for him to play with his LeapPad he thinks he is off the hook.
The new Ultra eBook Learn to Read Collection is exactly in line what kids are learning in school (at least it is for my kids.) The skills are Sight words, Phonics rules, Listening and Reading Comprehension and Decoding skills. There are different levels for kids to work on as their reading skills grow, which is great since some kids need extra help or an extra challenge. Your child can tap on words to hear them sounded out and even play games.
LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra eBook Learn to Read Collection: Fairy Tales

The stories are written at 3 different levels, progressing from simple text to more complex words and sentences Appropriate for children ages 4 to 6 years (grades pre-K to 1). LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra eBook Learn to Read Collection: Adventure Stories
The second in the series of the LeapPad Learn to Read Ultra eBooks, this eBook revolutionizes the experience putting fun twists on adventure stories with interactive escapades featuring froggy friends. Using LeapPad’s advanced features; the eBook helps early readers build phonics and decoding skills, sight word recognition and reading comprehension. (Works with LeapFrog LeapPad1 Explorer & LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer Learning Tablets.)
Overall, these cartridges have been a hit with my boys. They love the stories, games and just the Leapfrog characters in general. My kindergartner who hates reading is slowly picking up words and learning how to sound them out more. He sits with his headphones and I can see him trying to sound them out. I would recommend these cartridges for any parent looking for extra help for their kids thats fun. The book/game is easy to use and my 5 year old had no problem navigating it.
BUY IT: The LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra eBook Learn to Read Collection cartridges can be purchased for a suggested retail price of $19.99 wherever toys are sold or check it out direct from LeapFrog.
