Cookies are something that I could proabbly eat everyday, although I know I shouldn’t. Luckily Country Crock makes it a little less bad for me by using Country Crock spread instead of butter. Yes instead of using all that butter you can use Country Crock, or one of the other Unilever Spreads such as I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!, Promise, Brummel & Brown, and Imperial. To spread the word Unilever launched the Good to Know initiative to dispel the myths and share the facts.
Reasons they are Good to Know spreads:
- Have 0g trans fat per serving
- Contain no partially hydrogenated oils
- Have no cholesterol
- Are 70% less fat than butter per serving
- Have 30% fewer calories than butter per serving
I actually discovered the usage of using Country Crock instead of butter awhile ago by mistake. I was just about to make cookies and realized I had no butter in the house, just my big ole’ tub of Country Crock. So instead of the 2 tablespoons of butter I used 2 tablespoons of Country Crock. And you know what? There was no difference in taste, just less fat, less calories, 0 grams trans fat and no oils!
Now I actually automatically reach for Country Crock and my cookies, or whatever else I make, is usually soft, fresh and delicious.
So I received a Unilever Good to Know Baking Set to get started on my own recipe and I chose Country Crock. I received a new cookie sheet, cookie scoop, cooling rack and a Silpat. If you have never used or heard of Silpat it is amazing! I actually received one for my wedding shower eight years ago and never used it, and boy was I missing out. The Silpat is a silicone-like mat that you lay in your cookie sheet and then cook your cookies right on. There is no need to non-stick spray, they literally slide right off the Silpat when they are done! Amazing!
I made our favorite comfort food, Chocolate Chip Cookies. Since my middle child has an egg-allergy I also had to use Ener-G Egg Replacer, which is a powdered egg substitute I found on Amazon.
I honestly think these are the best chocolate chip cookies I have EVER made! You cannot tell the difference at all that I didn’t use actual eggs and the cookies rose perfectly!
[amd-zlrecipe-recipe:32]
Next time you have a recipe that calls for butter, I recommend checking out Country Crock. I’d be surprised if you noticed a difference (we can’t) and it is not only a little less guilty for you but also super affordable.

WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive a Good to Know Baking Set
Includes:
- Silpat® baking sheet liner
