Loving Our Beautiful & Safe Fireplace Cover by Jamboo Creations {Review}

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love our fireplace, but honestly, it scares me.  The fireplace though is made of rocks and concrete, yes the real stuff.  When we first moved in, I had visions of my kids tripping and falling and cracking their heads open on them, and no I couldn’t watch them every minute of every day.  So I went to our local baby store and bought this foam padding that sticks on the edges all around and cushions it.  Now since it just goes along the edges you still see the concrete part and while it’s not that dangerous it also wasn’t pretty.  For four years I sat on our couch in our family room and averted my eyes from the terrible foam padding around the fireplace.  Not only did it not match, it became so dirty that I couldn’t even clean it anymore and my kids decided to pick at it.  So chunks were missing, it was dirty and our concrete fireplace area was now dirty and ugly looking. If you would like to avoid such ugly looking dirty ashes, you could try a see through gas fireplace for a clean and stylish ambiance at your home.

In comes Jamboo Creations.  Jamboo is a company that was started by a mom and dad who were looking for a better way to keep their fireplace safe and attractive.  The HearthSoft is their main product and it is individually cut and professionally sewn in their own workroom in Atlanta, GA (yeah for a product being made in the United States!)  Other than HearthSoft covers, Jamboo Creations also makes Post/Pole wrappers, Throw Pillows, Retractable Safety Gates, and Cushions.

I got the chance to review a custom made HearthSoft and honestly, I absolutely love it!  I wish I would have found it four years ago, but I am happy to have it now.  Not only does it give me the peace of mind that my kids are safe from our hard and sharp-edged fireplace, but it also adds seating to the room and puts the room together.  The cushions have zippered entries so you can easily clean the cover in the washing machine if needed, but honestly I had no trouble scrubbing it clean with a washcloth – which my kids tested by getting ketchup on it the first day!  The fabric is durable, easily cleaned and of course flame retardant.  Now even though it is made with flame-retardant fabrics, it is still recommended to remove when using the fireplace.  How easy is it removed?  Just lift it off!  No snaps or adhesive to screw around with, just lift it off and on.

Ordering a custom HearthSoft is super easy and honestly, the longest time is just deciding which fabric you want!  There are different colors, materials, and textures to choose from and then you input the dimensions of your fireplace.  You can even order up to six free color swatches if you can’t decide!

So like I said I absolutely love our HearthSoft cover.  While it is expensive (around $300-$400) it is something that a parent could use for at least five years and then honestly I am keeping it up for as long as we have the fireplace – even adults or older kids can still fall or bump into the concrete and hurt themselves!  My kids love it just as much (if not more) than I do and immediately grabbed pillows to sleep on it!

We have had friends sit on it, whereas no one ever sat on it before and it no longer collects toys, which before my kids would leave their toys all over it. The quality is amazing and while I was skeptical about its stain removal abilities, water and scrubbing was really all I needed!  I would recommend Jamboo Creations for any homeowner with a fireplace, even if you don’t have kids.  It is a great way to dress up a fireplace, keep it safe, keep it clean and with so many colors available it can really bring a room together.
