As I have said before my kids absolutely love their LeapPad but there are a few additions I’d add, which luckily will now be included with the new LeapPad Ultra!
Whats New?
- 7-inch light-touch screen VS. 5-inch resistance touch screen
- Higher Resolution (1024 x 600 VS 480 272)
- Faster Processor (800 MHz VS 550 MHz)
- More On-Board Memory (8GB VS 4 GB)
- WiFi with kid-safe Web (previous version did not have WiFi)
- Better Video Recording
- Built-In MP3 Player (previously sold separately with other versions)
- Includes 11 apps for an $80 value (previous contained 5 apps only)
- Built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery (previous was regular AA batteries)
- AC adapter included
- Peer-to-peer play with another LeapPad Ultra
- More sleek design
I love that this version contains WiFi because my 6 year old is torn between the iPad and his LeapPad but with a kid-safe web I think he’ll feel like it is not so babyish. The design too is more modern looking with black instead of all green, which I think makes it look more like an adult-tablet. A bigger screen, yes please. Built-in rechargeable battery, finally! I cannot tell you how many batteries we have gone through and worse yet being on a roadtrip with a dead LeapPad! I am super excited to check it out and while it does cost more than the previous LeapPads, I am thinking it seems worth it with all the changes. To me this one has the most changes from all the LeapPad designs. Oh and the best part is that it still works with all the LeapFrog Explorer cartridges and apps you may previously own!
