Disclosure: I am a Hotspot Shield Ambassador that is compensated and will be sharing my honest opinion.
With holiday shopping just around the corner, it is important to remember to stay safe online. For every person that is shopping online I am sure there is someone stealing online. I know for me at least while I shop a lot online, I do shop occasionally outside my house online. Meaning quickly purchasing something from my phone or laptop whole using free Wi-Fi. Since the holiday season is also my busy season on my blog, I try to escape away to McDonald’s to use their free Wi-Fi to get some work done occasionally and some of those times I do also shop online. All it takes it one shopping transaction online where I input my credit card information online or something else secure while using public Wi-Fi and BOOM! my information can be stolen!
Basically what happens is when you use a public Wi-Fi along with strangers, one of those strangers could easily hack into your device. Well maybe not very easy for the everyday user, but for a hacker its a piece of cake. The holiday season brings out people who are desperate and others who are just too busy or overwhelmed to notice extra transactions on their statements.
Using a VPN (virtual private network) such as HotSpot Shield on both your laptops and smartphones is a great way to keep your browsing and shopping to yourself and secure. It also protects against malware, which includes a variety of hostile computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, and other malicious programs. Basically using HotSpot Shield, your internet browsing will be safe and your protected from any unwanted purchases this holiday season and from identity theft troubles!

Thanks for the reminder to stay safe! I usually make a point not to use public wifi for sensitive info, but I can definitely see myself forgetting in the mad dash to get everything ordered during the busy holiday season.
