    Disclosure:  I received this doll to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.  

    When I first heard that Sofia the First was coming out I was like “Finally!”  A show about a young princess is something that I can’t believe hasn’t been done yet.  Sofia the First is not only a show about a new princess (she was a village girl before that) but it has great lessons for kids and being by Disney it is amazingly animated.  Well the main thing that Sofia can do (if you don’t already know) is she can talk to animals when she wears her Amulet necklace.  Leave it to Mattel to come out with a fabulous Sofia doll that re-creates that at home for girls!

    At first I couldn’t get it to work and I was frustrated, but then I realized I had it in Demo mode so I turned it off and then on to regular mode and Voilah!  Sofia was off chatting up a storm with her three animal friends.  All you do is hold the animal near the Amulet on her neck and she talks for herself and for them.  So basically conversations!  It is so cool I of course had to shoot a video:

    In the Sofia the First Talking Sofia Doll and Animal Friends Play Set you receive the 10 inch Sofia doll, three animal friends and a plastic charm of Clover that you can attach to a chain for your child to wear.  There are 30+ phrases from Sofia and the animals and we have yet to get bored of it.  I wish there was a way to keep all the pieces together but I just try to store them all in a ziploc bag, although you can still push the amulet without the animals it is just more fun to watch it work from the signal inside the animal.  It is truly magical how she can talk to them without pushing a button, just hold the animal close to her neck and the conversation starts, she can though only talk to one animal at a time.  For a Sofia the First fan, this doll would make a perfect gift!  I will say it can be a little awkward to hold her and the animal as Sofia cannot stand on her own, she can sit though.

    Overall, this Sofia doll is unique and surprised me.  We have had other toys that were supposed to interact with each other but they always seemed to have a delay or one would need batteries.  Since Sofia is the one with the batteries (which are included) you don’t have to worry that the animals batteries are low since they don’t have any.  I love too that there is an Off switch so we can turn her off for storage otherwise she’d keep talking!

      my daughter is 3. She has been saying lately that she likes rabbits. We don’t have a rabbit. No one we know has a rabbit. She hasn’t really seen any rabbits. But nonetheless she loves rabbits.

      My live in grand daughter loves Bucky Badger (Wisconsin mascot) so safe to say she likes all badgers! My own daughter loves giraffes like me!

      Well we have a big golden retriever so I’m sure my son would say a dog is his favorite animal with maybe a hamster a close second.

      my daughter loves foxes.. and well my son doesn’t really have a favorite animal besides dogs.. he loves zombies ha ha

      My daughter loves puppies! Wants one, wants to be one, wish we could give her one but not where we live. She loves Sofia the first and imitating the relationship that she has with her animal friends. I think she would get a kick out of this!

      my sons are all animal lovers and love them all cats/dogs/hamsters/birds/reptiles/farm animals etc the only things they don’t like are bugs like ants, fleas, and mosquitos! 🙂

      Right now my Child’s favorite animal is our 6 month old puppy. He is a Great Pyrenees. He is huge and lovable. My kids like to lay on him like he’s a bean bag chair… he just lets them. They love him as much as he loves them.

      Kittens, she adores kittens! And monkeys…I think it’s the sounds. She loves making the cat and monkey sounds. 🙂

      My daughter is too little to tell me her favorite animal, but my younger son likes dogs and my older son likes giraffes

      My daughter likes cats a lot; probably because we have two and she likes it when they follow her around the house.

      The daughter I’d love to win this for (my little Sophia!) loves all animals… but I’d say turtles are one of her all time favorites.
