Honestly, fire scares me. I don’t like to be close to fires, and now as a mom I worry about my kids around them. While duraflame logs are still offer a form of fire, I do feel more comfortable using them. Why? Well with duraflame starter logs you know you are getting dry natural wood. It also burns cleaner than other wood. If you have ever tried to burn wet wood or cheap wood before then you know how it crackles and sparks can fly. I just feel safer using duraflame logs.
Some other benefits are:
- Burns up to 4 hours
- Fast lighting
- Bigger, brighter flames
- Releases fewer pollutants than firewood – 80% less fine particles, 75% less carbon monoxide, 90% less hazardous air pollutants
- Saves trees since it is made from recycled wood and agricultural fibers
- Made from 100% renewable resources
- No splinters to worry about since you place the log in its wrapper right in the fire
Since the cold weather does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, my family and I have been having a lot of fires. My husband loves the ease of using the duraflame fire logs, they always start on fire right away. I love that they are renewable and safer. It is also nice how the one log package can burn up to four hours! We don’t have a lot of room to store firewood and a fire for a few hours is just enough for us.
A few months ago (I know I’m behind), duraflame launched their 3rd year of its “Start Something Good” campaign. Recognizing that time is a precious commodity, they are encouraging people to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life to enjoy good experiences around the fire with family and friends. A great way to start something good is to shut off the screens and read books by the fire together. While my boys are not big book lovers, in front of a fire just makes it more appealing to them.
To make story time a unique and fun experience for young kids, a company called Compendium has come out with Story Starters. Story Starters is a series of story beginnings that allow your child and you to create your very own endings. They couple perfectly with family time in front of a cozy fire – and are a great way to unlock the power of imagination! I absolutely love this idea because honestly by the end of the day I am drawing a blank and need all the help I can get with story time! The cards are heavy duty cardboard pieces that are going to last through many story times. Each card has a paragraph on it and cute illustration that would be from a story with it ending with “And then….” That is where the fun begins! Sitting around a fire having your kids come up with crazy endings for the stories is priceless!
For more than 40 years, family-owned duraflame has been producing fire logs known for being easy and clean to burn. Whether you are sitting around your fireplace or your outside firepit, duraflame has you covered! I love their “Start Something Good” initiative as well because we all need reminders to slow down and back away from technology and everyday craziness to just enough our families.
