My family loves bread and when I was asked to host a bread banquet I was like “Genius!” Any reason to eat bread I am all about and La Brea Bakery artisan breads make it a no-brainer. I decided to challenge myself and come up with a few recipes incorporating bread, rather than just putting out some bread and lunchmeat which is usually what bread goes with in our household.

La Brea Bakery are a premier artisan bread brand co-founded by renowned pastry chef Nancy Silverton back in 1989. They are a company committed to only high-quality breads, buns, and other premium baked goods. I found La Brea Bakery at my local Jewel (Albertson’s) store by the deli and it was made fresh daily.
The recipes I chose are from both La Brea Bakery’s website and one I came up with to recreate a salad I had at a restaurant awhile ago.
Fresh Tomato Bruschetta
Fresh Tomato Pesto Pizza
White Bean Crostini with Bacon and Basil Pesto
(I used bacon instead of the suggested Pancetta and mixed in Pesto)
Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella and Bread Salad
(I re-created this one)
So what did my family and friends think of our bread banquet? They loved it! Everyone thought it was a great idea and commented on the delicious bread! With the bread being the base of the recipes, have a good quality bread really did make a difference. I loved the freshness of the bread and the subtle flavors within the bread. I bought the recipe the night before I needed it and it was still fresh. I don’t know if I could go back to regular plain ole’ bread anymore for recipes, sandwiches sure but for recipes I like the artisan blends.
