I received a stay and gift card in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
Last month, my family and headed to downtown Chicago to stay at an Embassy Suites Hotel. Now you may be wondering what is so special about Embassy Suites Hotels? Well it really is a perfect hotel for families and with more than 200 hotels in the U.S., Canada and Latin America, it makes it easy to stay at home. I decided to go to the Downtown Chicago Embassy Suites for a staycation. What’s funny is we live about 35 miles from Chicago but never really go down there and we have never stayed down there as a family. There really is a lot for families to do that I figured it would be perfect.
Here are the perks of staying at an Embassy Suites:
- You get two-rooms! Yes one bedroom and one living room/kitchenette area but still you can put the kids to sleep on the sofa bed for example and then go into the bedroom or vice versa. We loved having the two rooms so we could watch two different things on tv. I had my daughter in the bedroom watching cartoon and the rest of us were cuddled on the couch playing UNO and watching a movie on tv. Normally I am fine cramming all of us into one room, but I’ll admit it was a nice break to have two rooms and a big enough area we could all move around in and not bump each other.
- Free Cooked to Order Breakfast – Yes I said FREE and COOKED TO ORDER! We are talking about bacon, sausage, omelets, pancakes, waffles, cereal, fruit, toast, muffins and so forth. The menu did change each day but the basics were there. My husband is a huge omelet lover and loved that station! My boys were amazed that I was letting them get whatever they wanted to eat!
- Complimentary Drinks and Snacks – Yes again FREE! Each night for 2 hours they had an Evening Reception where you could go and get one alcoholic drink each, unlimited juice/soda and snacks. I was seriously amazed by this as I have seen “Manager Receptions” before and they usually just have one bottle of wine and a cheese tray. This was awesome! One night was homemade potato chips, the next was chips and salsa. Plus there was veggies and dip and trail mix.
- In-room coffee and teas created exclusively by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for Embassy Suites Hotels.
- 24/7 access to Embassy Suites Hotels Fitness Centers featuring state-of-the-art cardio and balance equipment along with a range of weight-training options. While I didn’t take advantage of this, it is nice its offered 24/7 because usually I see Fitness Centers that have limited hours. This would have been nice to use while my husband put the kids to bed!
- In room amenities including wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and Wi-Fi (the Wi-Fi did have an extra charge)
- Pool – Now I’m not sure if they all have pools, but our location had a pool and my kids had a blast swimming in it to wind down the day.

How did my family like Embassy Suites Hotel? Loved it! Honestly, I have no complaints. I feel like we got a good value for what it cost and it was a great staycation for us. We will definitely be staying at Embassy Suites Hotels in the future, I mean the breakfast alone is worth it since with five of us that can really add up!
