Disclosure: I received a gift card in exchange for sharing this information through a partnership with First Things First.
With Summer coming to end, its time to start slowing down and soaking in these last few weeks before back to school and then the holidays starts. Before we know it, it will be Christmas! I know I am jumped far ahead but time really does fly.
Well First Things First (FTF), a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to strengthing families. As a stay at home mom I spend a lot of time alone with my kids but not nearly as much with my husband. I know I need to work on and I tell myself that my spouse will understand but I know there is no subsititution for spending time together. I love that there is an organization that is trying to make a difference in education, collaboration and mobilization. FTF is a resource that collaborates with and is supported by various community organizations, groups and individuals.
How do they accomplish their mission of strengthening families? They create videos for visual messages and have skill building classes.
Did you know:
- 24 million children are growing up in homes without their biological fathers.
- Only 30% of divorces are due to infidelity, addiction or abuse, 70% of divorces are due to couples feeling disconnected.
- Couples who manage to devote time specifically to one another at least once a week are markedly more likely to enjoy high-quality relationships and lower divorce rates, compared to couples who do not devote as much couple time to one another.
- Fathers provide unique benefits to their daughters through their active and positive presence from the time of birth all the way through adulthood.
They actually created some quick videos about spending time together and then one I really liked is the one called “Date Your Spouse”:
