Disclosure: I received the product below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
So we have a door that goes from our garage to inside our house and until recently I had no way to truly lock it. Sure I could lock it from the inside but I didn’t have a key for it since it was here when we moved in. I hated going on vacation or wherever and not being able to lock that door. Not that I live in a bad neighborhood or anything but things happen and what if I left my garage door open accidentally? I thought about replacing it with a keyed lock but then I had the challenge or keeping a key on each of our key rings plus giving them to our family and neighbors for emergencies. Then I read about the Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt and knew it was the perfect solution to my problem.
The Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt is exactly what it sounds like. Its a deadbolt lock but with a touch screen instead of somewhere to put a key in. What about installation, think it sounds too complicated? It is actually just as easy as installing a regular deadbolt, just with some extra steps that are voice-guided for you. Yep no need for storing instructions or searching for them, the keypad will guide you during installation and any troubleshooting. What about weather? Will it be damaged by rain or snow? Nope the Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt features a weather resistant durable touchscreen so it can be used on your front door, side door, or back door!
Having the Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt has been a huge lifesaver for me. I feel so much safer that I can easily lock the door when I leave by just swiping my hand over it and unlock it when I need to. I can even give out guest codes to people if they need to get into my house when I’m not there, I read you can set up a total of 25 codes! I was worried about being locked out since it uses batteries but the 4 AA battery life is one year and there is a low battery warning to alert you to change them.
Just wave my hand to lock/unlock:
Really there is nothing I dislike about the Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt. It is a simple product that has given me a great peace of mind and made life a little easier. Now for my kids too I don’t have to worry about them loosing house keys. I can give them our garage door code and then this code. I will slowly be replacing all our outside locks with these Yale locksets.
To go a step further, if you have a home automation setup (where you can control your devices from your phone), this Yale lockset with an added system radio module can hook into that for even more power! You can get text messages when the lock is unlocked, check out the audit trail of when the lock was used and have the lock automatically lock itself. I don’t have a home automation setup yet so I wasn’t able to take advantage of it but I love that the option is there.
