Disclosure: I received the product below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
My boys are 6 and 7 and all they want to do sometimes is be spies. They like to “investigate” things that happened or solve mysteries, I should also mention their favorite show right now is Scooby Doo. Well Spin Master makes it easy to accessorize little spies with their Spy Gear lines. Well I shouldn’t say little as they do seem like they are all for ages 6 and up, but you get my meaning.
I received two of their Spy Gear products and my boys of course couldn’t wait to open them up. What is nice is that each product is independent so buy one or buy them all, it doesn’t matter. There is spy gear for seriously any spy task your child may encounter, of course they are toys and not necessarily real working.
Spy Door Alarm
- The Spy Gear Door Alarm lets you protect your room by sounding an alarm if anyone intrudes.
- Create your own secret code and be the sole key holder so only you can deactivate the alarm.
- The Door Alarm uses two unique pieces: one attached to your doorframe, the other to your door.
- The Spy Gear Door Alarm is made for spies ages 6+ and requires 2 x AAA batteries for operation (not included).
This is a neat little alarm perfect for any little spy’s room. You mount one piece with the included strips onto the door and the other on the frame. When the door is opened a little alarm goes off with a beeping noise, unless the alarm is opened with the one included key. I will say it is kinda a pain because my boys share a room and there is only one key. It is a neat alarm though so your child can feel like they have privacy and their own space.
Spy Gear – Night Goggles
- Secret Agents can now see in the dark with Spy Gear Night Goggles!
- The bright LED lights and blue tinted lenses drastically enhance night vision.
- Use the foldout scope and 2X-magnifying lens to spot targets from greater distances at night!
- Spy Night Goggles are designed for Secret Agents ages 6+ and required 3 AAA batteries for operation.
- Includes: 1 Night Goggles, 1 Instruction Guide
These goggles have become the most sought after toy for my boys right now. My boys, ages 6 and 7, have been in a spy phase and these googles make them feel like real spies, as I’m told. They actually light up, pretty bright actually, and they have a magnifier glass built it. So these goggles are like flashlights and binoculars built into a pair of glasses. When we first got them I explained that they probably wouldn’t work like they real spy glasses but they really do work. They are not like night vision glasses as you can see the lights on them, but for kids ages 10 and under they are perfect. I’d recommend these as a gift for any child!

After our last home invasion, single mom of a son who wasn’t home that night thankfully but a girlfriend stayed over in his room. My friend left my second floor patio open and he had full access to our home. The part that scared me the most was the intruder was in my son’s room looking under the bed, in the dresser and closet. My friend was frozen with fear, he woke her up while he was crawling under the bed. I happened to be awake and reading when he opened my bedroom door. He just looked at me and closed the door. I froze with fear. I got up and got dressed, had a gun in the safe which took forever to open, and I could hear my friend whispering my name. He was never found but till this day I live in constant fear, inside and outside my home. Toy or no toy that alarm will deter 80% of the people. We had recently moved in so maybe he thought the previous tenants were still there. It wasn’t long after I moved out too but with a lot of things I look for that would aid someone getting into my home.
Lisa Priest says
I am not going to enter the giveaway I just want your little ones to play a spy and not worry that someone may break in their homes at night.
If you can’t afford a hi-tech alarm system for your home, call the company and most are happy to send out stickers and yard signs. If they charge a small fee it is worth it to keep a your child safe. Plus what they provide is advertisement for them and some peace of mind that it acts like a deterrence for would be burglars. Now your work is not done, for those who can’t afford the security system go to the hardware store, walmart or even the dollar store. They should all carry the two pieces of plastic that have a magnet on each piece. I think there may be a battery box for the alarm so don’t forget the batteries. There are some very important things to discuss here. There is an adhesive where you can just stick them to the top of the door. I promise at 3am when the adhesive get’s old some night down the road, that it fall and scare the devil out of you. So instead of taking shortcuts that could have serious complications, get a screwdriver and attach them. When those batteries separate the whole house will hear them. Always keep your batteries fresh and do not think it won’t happen to you. The last thing and I will move along and find something else to do. The patio doors are an invitation for the burglar. A screen door lock can be popped with a strong pull. Since I know this area too well, I can offer a couple of solutions but I am sure there are many more. We all know about the broomstick handle but if it isn’t long enough it’s useless. Go to Home Depot and get a strong piece of square wood that will not roll around, that will not break no matter what they try, but it must fit perfectly in that track-not too short, not too tall, just perfect. There is another product where a hole is drilled about 1-2 feet from the top and a round pole like bar is inserted all the way through to the second glass door. The pole had a chain attached to it on the inside and it was repeated at the bottom. There was also a turnkey lock at the bottom that locked some mechanics in the door. And just in case there was a stick in the track and another locking bar across the other side. It was a very elaborate system as well as expensive. So keep your little ones tight and I can collect my good Karma point on the way out.
