Disclosure: I received the product below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
We are not a very musical family but lately my boys have been showing interest in musical instruments. They always enjoyed their little keyboards they have but I figured it was time for the next step. The CTK-2400 Sound EFX sampler by Casio is the perfect next step for anyone looking to start creating their own music at home. It is the perfect starter keyboard that is both portable and affordable. It has so many great features and even though we have been jammin’ on this keyboard for a few weeks now, I feel like we haven’t even scratched the surface with what it can do.
Features:
- Sound EFX Sampler
- Built-In Microphone
- Step-up learning system
- 400 Keyboard Voices
- 48 Note Polyphony (so you don’t have to worry about dropping notes)
- 150 Rythms
- 110 Built-in Songs
- USB MIDI
What makes this keyboard go a step further is the USB MIDI connection which allows you to hook this digital piano up to a Mac or Windows computer. If you have an iPad you can use that as well! We haven’t tried hooking this up to the computer yet but it is a feature that I like that is there for when I’m ready.
What my kids really love is all the songs that are included (110 built-in to be exact.) They just push a button and the song plays. To help them learn, there is even the Step Up Lesson system which shows players which keys to push.
I will say the first thing you should do, after you play around with it for awhile, is read the instructions. This keyboard can really do a lot that without reading the instructions you will miss out on some great features. I feel like everytime I sit down with it I figure out something new on it!
As you can see it is a good size keyboard, but it is also light enough to easily move around.
My kids love the microphone part of this keyboard where they can say something and have their voice be changed into silly tones. The buttons can be overwhelming and intimidating but with practice it gets easier. Like I said though this is a great keyboard to start with and grow on. My boys have never shown interest in music before and lately they have been trying to play songs on this. I love that it is teaching them an appreciation for music, even though it is not really organized right now. It is great though because it teaches songs as simple as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and far more complex songs. The piano can be slowed down and it can show what notes to play.
The keyboard runs on AC power, which is included, or you could add batteries. I honestly like the battery choice because we seem to keep tripping over the cord. I think too we will add a keyboard stand and set this up properly. I honestly think this keyboard is going to last us as long as we need it to.
BUY IT: The CTK-2400 Sound EFX sampler by Casio can be purchased for a suggested retail price of $109.99 direct from Casio or find the Casio CTK2400 Keyboard on Amazon.

My kids would love having the microphone on this. Not sure if I’d like it as much as they would though
