Disclosure: I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
Wintertime in Chicago is brutal and I am always looking for products to keep my kids active and entertained. Well now there are a few products that makes it easy to bring Summer related outdoor activities inside! Yes the fun and warmth of Summer can be brought back while its cold and yucky outside. The products include: Snackeez, Hover Ball and Squishy Sand.
Snackeez 2 in 1 Snack & Drink Cup
My kids are always on the go outside in the summer and often carrying both a cup and a bag of snacks. Snackeez combines those two things in one! At first glance it may seem like a regular 16 oz. cup but inside is a small 4 oz. container perfect for a snack size portion! You fill the cup normally with liquids and then you flip the top and fill with some snacks. I admit too I have found myself using it as I love the convenience of everything in one. It is all plastic and easily washed. It is not totally kid safe though as the lid can be twisted open and the snack lid just lifted. So while I wouldn’t give this to a toddler who spills still, it is great for other kids and adults. I haven’t had any problems and think it is pretty neat!
Hover Ball
So I admit when I saw this on television, I was curious. Did it need batteries? Would it actually work? Well the Hoover Ball does work and no it does not require batteries. It is not magic either. The Hoover Ball is half a ball and on the bottom is actually a plastic disc that allows the ball to glide across the surfaces. Its kinda like an air hockey puck and how that glides or hoovers. The top is super soft foam. What is great about this is kids can glide this across the floor, any floor surface will do but carpet is recommend, and it will move. Since its not a full round ball it is not a ball that is going to be kicked into the air so your child won’t be knocking down lamps or anything. I suppose they could still pick it up and throw it but if they use it on the floor then it will just glide on the floor. It has really amazed my kids and is the perfect way to play ball in the house!
Squishy Sand
I will say I was hesitant to use Squishy Sand in the house but I know my daughter has been begging for sand play and would be excited. I found a big tray from a past catering order we had and it was perfect to contain the sand. She loved squishing the sand between her fingers and just playing around with it. She didn’t really build anything other than balls but still had fun. To me it feels exactly like sand. It did get on her clothes and leave that gritty sand feeling so yes it can be messy. I ended up just vacuuming up what spilled onto the floor.
Overall, I am all for anything that bring back the reminder of summer to my family. Winter here in Chicago can be brutal and depressing, these products have been a great reminder that summer will soon be back!
