Disclosure: I received compensation in exchange for sharing this information and my honest opinion.
Summer is a time of fun and for my family, it is a time for adventure. With three kids home with me all day, we have always been a family on-the-go. I would honestly go crazy if I stayed at home all day, everyday with them so we go out a lot. From heading to the library to museums to grandma’s house, we go out creating our own adventures a lot. Ever since my first child was born, I have learned to create fun wherever we go. Then as I had more kids I learned not only how to be more creative with fun (especially free fun) but also some tips for surviving the summer with my babies.
Here are some of my tips for navigating the summer with your baby:
- Bring a change of outfits – Between sweat and spills, babies always could use a change of clothes! I actually learned a long time ago to carry a stain stick with me for those small stains you don’t want to set it. Now there is even a Dreft stain remover stick available, perfect to keep in your diaper bag.
- Bring a hat – Babies have fragile heads and you don’t want them to get sunburned!
- Stay in the shade as much as possible, especially if you don’t have a hat. The shade is nice too for moms who are holding those sweaty babies!
- Stay hydrated for both you and your child. For me and my middle child, we get headaches from too much heat and not enough water.
- Bring snacks! This is a given for anywhere but especially at summer outings when you don’t know when you’ll be eating or what you’ll be eating.
- Don’t try to do too much, you’ll get exhausted and your child will be miserable. If you do have a long day, try to take naps and breaks whenever you can
- Check out a babycare mag for deals!
- If you are going to a specific place like a theme park or museum, do your research. Check the age requirements, read reviews and get a feel for where the bathrooms are!
- Make sure you have Pampers Splashers on hand if there is a chance your baby might be in the water. I always feel bad for the babies who are in regular diapers in a pool or splash pad, they were just not meant for water play! Pampers Splashers are designed for the water and don’t expand.
While I have learned that I can always buy something if I forget it or run out, I do like to stock up when I find good deals. Things that I know will not go bad and I’ll definitely need, I love buying at a good price. Babies R Us has always been one of my favorite stores to shop at due to its great selection of products and promotions.
