    Did you know that its the 10th Anniversary year of the Percy Jackson series? If you have never heard of the series, you are definitely missing out . The series stars Percy Jackson and his friends as teenagers who are children of gods and demigods. They go on lots of adventures and lots of mythological characters are present. I have always been fascinated by greek mythology and when I heard there was a book that was going to go into more details about the greek heroes I was excited.

    GREEK HEROES is the companion title to the national best seller Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods which is a book written in the narrative of Percy Jackson explaining how the world was created and the gods behind it. I hadn’t read that book but now I am anxious to read that one as well.

    GREEK HEROES is a big hardcover book jam packed with stories in the narrative of Percy Jackson. Its not like an encyclopedia or book of facts, but rather stories of about 20 pages or so and then it goes onto another character. The stories are the true stories of the characters but told from a teenager’s perspective. With titles like “Perseus Wants a Hug” and “Thesus Slays the Mighty – Oh, Look! A Bunny Rabbit!” the book makes the reader want to keep on reading. Since the stories are told by Percy they are funny and even I enjoy reading them myself. The stories are also written so kids understand rather that in a text full of hard to follow names. There are also illustrations throughout the book that are pretty amazing. This book would be perfect for any fan of mythology or as a companion to the Percy Jackson series.

      I’ve heard of Percy Jackson but haven’t read the books or seen the movies. I remember a bit of Egyptian & Greek mythology.

      Twelve Olympians are the major deities of the Greek pantheon, commonly considered to be Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes and either Hestia, or Dionysus.

      I Love Greek mythology and I liked watching the Percy Jackson movie, but have yet to read the Percy Jackson books (or my daughter).

      I love the way they finally made a series that brings modern day life into mythology. I just finished the first book and I love the movies, excited to keep going in the series

      I know more about Norse mythology than Greek. However, I do know that the Greek Gods family tree is more like a jumbled up circle.

      My original comment I did in IE isn’t showing up so I will do it again. We have not read the Percy Jackson series yet but it looks good. I do not know much about mythology other than what I learned from Disney’s Hercules.

      We have not read the Percy Jackson series yet, but it looks very good. The only stuff I know about mythology is probably what I learned watching Disney’s Hercules. 😉

      I like Mythology. I know that Zeus is the head honcho on Olympus in Greek mythology and in Romany Mythology this is Jupiter. I like Percy Jackson. Thnx.

      My second daughter loved the Percy Jackson series after discovering one of the books as a prize at our local library’s summer reading program. She’s read all the books in the series several times and then went on to the Heroes of Olympus series. She was sad that I hadn’t read them and missed the old days when we had our little inside jokes about books I’d read aloud to her and her older sister so I read all the books too. I think it is very effective in bringing Greek mythology to life for the modern child (and adult for that matter). My daughter said she couldn’t wait for the Norse series to be published and it’s going to be torture for her waiting.lol.

      I read the first Percy Jackson book and loved it. I thought the idea of there being a camp for half breeds (ie children of gods) was cute and unique. I haven’t read any of the other books though I must admit.

      I love Percy Jackson.
      So you want me to leave a comment with anything I know about Percy Jackson…his name is actually Perseus, but goes by Percy. His father is a demigod. The Lightning Thief is the first book in the series. Percy has a pen which transforms into a sword (names Riptide) when it is uncapped – I would love to have one of those. Percy’s mom married Gabe (Ugliano…very fitting last name) only because he covered up the scent of Percy (so he couldn’t be found) by his awful smell!
      I think that’s enough so I don’t give anymore good stuff away. 😉

      Although my daughter isn’t a big Percy Jackson fan (her brother was), she loves ready about Mythology and the “Gods.” I bet she would enjoy this one and the first book.

      Nico never told Percy, but he’d seen the son of Poseidon in the Lotus Hotel before Alecto had taken him out of the people Percy had asked what year it was. ( headconon )

      My son love mythology. We did a big unit on it last year and will continue this year. One thing he was fascinated with was how the Romans “borrowed” the Greek Gods as their own
