This month The Jim Henson Company celebrates 60 years of entertainment excellence. They are a brand that many have grown up with, including myself. From The Muppets to Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Grover to new characters including Dinosaur Train, Doozers and Enchanted Sisters, The Jim Henson Company is everywhere.
Some fun information you might not know about Jim Henson:
Jim Henson was a genius puppeteer, artist, inventor, screenwriter, actor, film director, and producer, and brought the world such indelible characters as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo, Rowlf the Dog, Bunsen and Beaker and others, collectively known as The Muppets. He also created the Sesame Street Muppets like Ernie & Bert, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Grover. In addition to creating The Muppet Show and the first three Muppet feature films, Jim also conceived the awe-inspiring fantasy film The Dark Crystal; the stunning visual-effects laden live-action feature Labyrinth; the perennial favorite, Fraggle Rock;and numerous other beloved titles like Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas and The Storyteller.
You probably know these classic titles from your own childhood, but you may not realize that The Jim Henson Company continues to create favorite childhood friends with some of the most popular and acclaimed children’s programming titles available! Today, Jim Henson’s children continue to own and run the uniquely independent and creative company he founded, and under the leadership of Lisa Henson (CEO) and Brian Henson (Chairman), the company continues to create fresh, new characters and fantastical worlds that speak to today’s audiences, abiding by the essence of the Henson brand – innovation!
I love that I grew with Jim Henson and now my own kids get to experience the creativity behind the Jim Henson brand. My kids range from 4 to 8, both boys and a girl, and they all love Jim Henson shows still, which I appreciate as a parent. The shows are wholesome, educational and teach simple but valuable lessons.

Additionally, the folks at The Jim Henson Company are working on Enchanted Sisters, a new television series based on these fabulous new books that are available now!
Sisters Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer are nature’s royalty. In Mother Nature’s realm, they’re responsible for each magical turn of the seasons. When they’re not keeping all of nature in balance, the girls play, imagine, and explore their way around their enchanted world. And though they love harmony, the sisters often cross paths with the Weeds — wild boys who bring trouble with them wherever they go.
Just in time for the seasons changing, The Jim Henson Company and its partner PBS Distribution, NCircle, Simon & Schuster & Bloomsbury Children’s Publishing has some great products to check out.
