Did you know that many Americans that are heading into retirement have only enough money to live for three years? What is the point of retiring if you will have to go back to work to survive? Honestly retirement scares me. How am I supposed to know where to invest, how much I need to invest and how to make the most of my retirement income? Luckily my husband is on top of things with our retirement but I hate being ignorant about the subject. I figure it’s my future too and I should be educated about it as well.
A long time ago many people relied on pensions and savings for retirement but times have changed. Well Laura LaBelle, a certified financial planner and money coach, is offering a free webinar on 6 Retirement Planning Mistakes to Avoid courtesy of Liberty Bank. Registration is required but it is available free of charge via laptop or smartphone at libertybank.com.
Topics covered will be:
- Investment basics
- Cutting health care costs in retirement
- Avoiding retirement traps
- Retiring on less but enjoying more
According to La Belle, there’s no such thing as a future decision about our money. She believes people should have the information required to make financial future decisions. I feel like I have heard over and over that “Knowledge is Power” and it is a very true statement.

I think this is something that people should think early in life, rather than later. Just think of all the time you would have if at 18 you started thinking about putting money away.
