I partnered with Acer in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
One of the first desktop computers I had was an Acer and I remember it being so state-of-the art back then. Well computers have come a long way since then and now they are smaller, more affordable and you can do so much more with them.
Acer launched its first Chromebook back in 2011 and is considered to be the world’s leading Chromebook brand with over 33% market share in 2015 (according to data from Gartner.) Many schools have even rolled out Acer Chromebooks for grades K-12 due to their affordability, popularity of Google apps for education, fast boot times, cloud-based storage, and built-in virus protection.
The Acer Chromebook R11 is a Chromebook that is perfect for moms and students. From its design to durability to features, I am impressed with it. I actually can’t decide if I want to give it to one of my kids or keep it for myself, even my husband grabs it and uses it!
Features of the Acer Chromebook R11:
- Bendable: With a 360 degree hinge, the laptop can be bent to how you’d like to use it. Whether you want it standing up to be displayed, used like a regular laptop or even a tablet, it is pretty cool how flexible it is.
- Touchscreen: I will say it took my awhile to get used to but now I forget that not all computers are touchscreen! The 11.6 inch screen also makes it easy super easy for kids to use.
- Chrome web store: Perfect for downloading games and apps.
- Sturdy Case: The case features an aluminum top panel and textured gripping to make it easy to hold.
- WiFi built-in: This is pretty standard nowadays but still a nice feature.
- Fast: It says it outperforms most other Chromebooks thanks to its impressive processor. I can vouch too for how fast it is, I expect a delay when I turn a laptop on but this has none! It even includes a super-fast USB 3.0 port.
- Lightweight: It weighs about 2.76 lbs. and is perfect for toting around for on-the-go work! I admit I thought it would be slow and glitchy because it was so lightweight but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
- Built-in webcam: Perfect for photos and video chats!
- Great battery life: Last about 10 hours of battery life. Perfect for getting a lot of work (or play) done!
- Everything is safe on Google Drive: This laptop does not store stuff on its hard drive like other laptops do but rather everything is done via Google Drive. You can store files, documents and photos safely in the cloud on Google Drive and the Chrome OS automatically updates to guard against ever-changing online threats.
- Affordable: This laptop is very budget-friendly at just $279.99.
Overall, this is a great laptop for simple needs. You can do pretty much anything you would want to do online from writing emails to browsing and shopping. Now with so many websites too offering services like photo-editing and online games, you really can do a lot! Since this is a Chromebook you can’t save files or download anything onto it but for everyday jobs it gets the task done.
I grab this Chromebook for checking things throughout the day, when I have an hour to work at the library or McDonald’s in-between kids activities and when I just need something small and lightweight. I have even used this laptop to stream Netflix for my kids!
As I said, this is a wi-fi based laptop so you do need wi-fi to do most of everything on it. Luckily wi-fi is pretty much everywhere nowadays so thats fine with my family. I did find a few things you can do offline though including some games and Google docs editing. You can even work on emails offline until wi-fi is connected!
From the main screen of the laptop there are the Google apps you can click on or any apps you download from the Chrome Web Store:
My daughters favorite game right now is ABC Mouse and luckily she can do the touchscreen website version wherever we are in the house or even at grandmas house!
Whatever your needs are, this laptop works great and is packed with tons of great features for its price.
