“Who says you have to wear matching socks, or that pigs don’t dream? That you can’t change the way a story ends or that all monsters are scary!”
As a mom I know how important it is to keep my kids inspired and their curious minds flowing. I remember as a child sitting for hours and just playing. From dolls to coloring to puzzles, everything back then was so simple. Nowadays I feel like technology is everywhere and while I don’t have a problem with screen time, I do like my kids screen time to be quality.
A new pre-school television program called Kazoops is coming to Netflix from Australia-based children’s TV producer Cheeky Little Media. Kazoops was designed to highlight the importance of creative play while teaching kids critical thinking skills.
The animated show will follow the adventures of six-year old Monty and his best friend, Jimmy Jones, the family pet pig. Monty uses his vivid imagination to challenge all the “rules” of today such as “you have to wear matching socks” or “all games need rules.” It is not a show to teach kids to challenge authority or defy rules, but rather thinking outside the box and being themselves.
When something makes Monty stop and wonder he always says “Kazoops Jimmy Jones!” so we know his imagination is firing up and an adventure is about to begin. Then after Monty tells Jimmy Jones what’s on his mind, he closes his eyes and says the words ‘just imagine,’ transporting us into his imagination, where he and Jimmy Jones go to amazing places, meet new friends and explore the preconception that got him wondering in the first place.
To go along with each imaginary adventure will feature a unique song that tells the story and guides kids on the journey with Monty and Jimmy Jones. The songs are vibrant, cool and fun with a variety of different styles that will be hard to keep your kids from dancing, laughing and singing. The songs lyrics tell the tale of what Monty is discovering. The song finishes when their imaginary journey comes to an end and Monty and Jimmy Jones return to the real world. In the real world, the pair share their new ideas with the rest of the family.
