I partnered with this brand for product and/or compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
The problem with a lot of kid car and train track sets is that they can be so complicated to put together or stay together that kids give up. With two boys ages 8 and 9, we have owned quite a few sets. While I wish I could sit down and help them build every single toy set they have, I also want them to be able to problem solve and build on their own. My 8 year old especially we joke that he is a little engineer as he builds amazing creations with whatever he is given.
Just in time for the holiday season, Lionel has come out with a revolutionary track system that is as much fun to build as it is to race on. Lionel Mega Tracks uses a track system called TwisTrack which does exactly that. Your child can twist and bend the track however they see fit and the included car with zoom around on it. The track system can be attached to furniture with the included clamps or on the included pedestals. The possibilities really are endless.
To control the car, you get a handheld RC controller that is very easy for little hands to manage. Yes by the way both the car and controller require batteries so make sure to have them on hand.
We started with the Lionel Mega Tracks Corkscrew Chaos set and my son is already asking for the Expansion Sets, which is nice that they offer. I mean you do get enough track pieces to build a fun set but of course bigger is better, right?
I definitely see this as a kid-friendly set and it doesn’t require a lot of arm strength to snap pieces together, kids can actually do it themselves. My son only needed help taking a few pieces apart when he wanted to re-build the track a different way. If you have a child who loves track sets, this is definitely a fun one to check out that will keep your kid entertained and busy!
Look for Lionel Mega Tracks on Amazon or on the Lionel Mega Tracks website.
