Did you know that 1 in 10 people have kidney disease? That is an estimated 26 million Americans! There are also 120,000 people currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the United States.
With May and June hosting National Women’s Healthy Awareness Week and Men’s Health Awareness Month, it is no better time to start thinking about your health.
Paul Rodriguez and Gloria Garayua, the stars of the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF) multi-award-winning patient education series Fixing Paco, star in a public service announcement to deliver a strong call-to-action about kidney disease prevention and the need for organ donation.

Honestly, I could definitely learn more about kidney disease and I’m sure I am not alone. I had no idea that many people were affected. Just hearing that 1 in 10 people are affected means that I have good odds of knowing someone affected.
Kidney disease can occur without signs or symptoms.
