When I think back to my first car and compare it to my car now, it is amazing all the features that are now standard. Car safety has definitely come a long way, especially when you think about how carseats and seatbelts weren’t even a thing not that long ago! The thought now that a child would not be belted in his or her seat is appalling. Of course if you don’t want to buy a new car you can always buy a used car for cheap.
Here are 5 of My Favorite Safety Features on Cars:
Latch system for car seats. My first car did not have this and installing my middle child’s car seat was so much easier when we got a new car.
Airbags everywhere. Cars started out with no airbags and then got front ones and now many even had side ones. I have never experienced an airbag but appreciate that they are there to cushion us if we do get into an accident.
Blindspot sensors. This is not standard on all new or used cars but is super helpful, especially if you are driving a big beast of a minivan. I cannot even tell you how many times this has helped me as it seems like cars love being in my blindspot.
Backup camera. Backing up out of driveway or parking spot has never been easier or safer thanks to a backup camera from TadiBrothers. While I am sure accidents do still happen, a backup camera has probably saved more people and objects from being ran over. I cannot imagine not having one now as it gives me such peace of mind that I am not missing something back there.
Power windows and doors. This is a pretty standard feature now and such a simple feature. I love being able to lock all the doors and control the windows so I don’t have to worry about any backseat issues. No more cranking down the windows on our own or worrying about kids opening their own doors while I’m driving.

I wish I had a Backup camera. I will have one on my next car.
