Some people deal well with staying indoors, while others feel like a caged animal. If you don’t respond well to being stuck inside, then it’s easy to slip into bad habits. More often than not, this includes being lazy and eating poorly. As a result, your health deteriorates.
Nobody wants this to happen, so here are a few fun ways you can stay healthy during the lockdown:
Start doing morning yoga/pilates
Yoga and pilates are two very enjoyable forms of exercise. I have two reasons for this. Firstly, they are adaptable to your needs and experience. There are beginner workouts for each that anyone can try. If you want more of a challenge, then they get progressively harder, and might even require equipment from somewhere like Pilates Matters for people to really get the best out of their sessions.
Secondly, they give you an excuse to buy cool things. You need a good yoga or pilates outfit if you want to get the most out of your exercise. This means getting some fancy leggings, a cute top, and even some funky grip socks that stop you from slipping. You can get so creative here, and there are actually Disney grip socks that can make the whole outfit look super cute. I find that you feel a lot better and are more inclined to exercise when you’re dressed in a cute outfit.
Play games with your kids
Playing with your children is a surefire way to stay fit and healthy. You don’t realize how much energy a child has until you play with them. Join in with their usual games, and you’ll soon be running around the house like a headless chicken. If you have a garden, take advantage of that by playing catch, hide & seek – anything that gets you moving.
The benefits of doing this are phenomenal. Obviously, you improve your health and the health of your kids. Also, you keep your kids happy during this difficult time as you’re entertaining them. Lastly, it strengthens the bond between you as you’re spending loads of time doing what they love.
Set little family challenges
Another fun way to stay healthy is to set little challenges for you and your family. This sounds vague, so here are some examples. Make it a contest to see who can eat the most fruit in a day. Whoever reaches their five-a-day first wins a prize. This could be a gift, or it might be a sweet treat. Or, buy fitness trackers for everyone to wear and set the challenge of who can walk the most steps in a day. Again, offer rewards and prizes for the winner.
The beauty of this is that it motivates and encourages everyone to be healthier. Also, it limits unhealthy eating by saving treats for the winners. Therefore, if you do have something sweet to eat, then you’ve at least worked for it!
These ideas are excellent if you’re struggling to get up and move during lockdown. Don’t settle into bad habits that make you unhealthy. Try these three tips to stay healthy while having lots of fun at the same time.
