Having a baby, especially your first, is an exciting time. It is also a life-changing moment and your family is now moving from two people to three. An increasingly common trend for expectant parents is to take a “babymoon” or a vacation before your child is born. You and your spouse or partner can celebrate your relationship and treasure your time together before your life is turned upside down. If you are interested in taking a babymoon, we have six destination suggestions for you.
1. Take a Caribbean Cruise
A tropical island can be one of the most relaxing and inviting places you can go for any trip, let alone when you are pregnant. This destination is especially perfect if your due date is in the winter. Now, most airlines won’t let you fly once you’ve reached a certain point of your pregnancy. You can, however, take one of the cruises from Florida that head to different parts of the Caribbean. Ranging from a couple of nights to a week or more, you can choose the right trip length for you.
2. Relax in a Desert Resort
We are lucky to have some stunning desert scenery in the Southwestern United States, especially Arizona, California, New Mexico and Utah. You can enjoy red rock cliffs in Sedona and hidden oases in Palm Springs. If you want to up the level of pampering on your babymoon, look into staying at a desert resort. You can stay physically active and enjoy time at the pool or in the spa.
3. Stay in a Picturesque New England Village
If you like the coastal vibe, you can’t go wrong with New England. From Connecticut to Maine, the coastline is studded with villages that are begging to be visited. You can also venture off the coast to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard for a more secluded trip. These destinations give you a relaxing beach vacation with activities such as antiquing or dining out on excellent seafood.
4. Live it Up in South Florida
Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy going out at night and having fun. For nightlife, you have to visit South Florida, especially Miami. Spend your days on the beach and your nights in some of the hottest restaurants in Florida. Miami is home to a major airport and is easy to get to from many US cities. If you don’t want to stay in a quieter area that’s still near the action, consider a relaxing hotel in Naples.
5. Stay on the Beach in Hawaii
Hawaii is a popular honeymoon destination and it could be the perfect place to have your babymoon. The island of Maui is smaller and quieter than Oahu and Honolulu. There are miles of pristine beaches to visit, as well as stunning coastal drives you can take. Just as on the other islands, there are numerous resorts to choose from. Don’t forget to reserve your spot at the luau!
6. Enjoy Southern Hospitality
If you want your babymoon to be a genteel experience, a southern destination might be for you. You can have a city break and visit Charleston or Savannah. Other options include beach destinations, such as Jekyll or Kiawah Islands. Take in the whole southern lifestyle by staying at an all-inclusive inn.
There are many destinations to choose from when planning your babymoon. If you want to be active and do sightseeing while on your vacation, choose a more urban location to visit. If you are purely in it for rest and relaxation before the big event happens, then a resort is just what you need. The most important thing to remember about planning a babymoon is that it is a time just for you and your spouse. Soon enough you’ll have to take someone else’s wants and needs into consideration when planning family trips. Make sure that this one satisfies all your wants and needs.
