From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to “choose kind,” comes the inspirational next chapter: WHITE BIRD. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian (Bryce Gheisar) is visited by his grandmother (Helen Mirren) and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII. From the director of Finding Neverland, WHITE BIRD reminds us to be brave and choose kind.
This movie is all about choosing kindness and having courage. It is a coming of age movie starring two teenagers, one being Jewish during a time when they were being rounded up and taken away. It actually stars Julian who is the boy who was bullying Auggie in the book (and movie) WONDER. Julian’s grandmother tells the story of her childhood and how the kindness of a stranger saved her life. I usually don’t like feel-good type movies but this is a great story and truly one that shows a great perspective on how it costs nothing to be kind to someone else.
White Bird has a great cast of many actors and actresses you’ll recognize as well. It is historical fiction and a great family movie.
